How To Make a YouTube Knit Play Button

To celebrate our 100 subscribers and say a fond farewell to YouTube's classic play buttons I decided to design a hand knit play button award. Here are the details of the project:

You Will Need:

One 12 x 12 in Shadowbox
One 1024 pcs Recollections Alphabet Sticker Pack
One Recollections 12 x 12 Card stock
One Small Pack of Red Premo Clay
Two Small Balls of  Sport Weight Yarn (Red and White)
One Pair of Knitting Needles Size 4
One Page of Sticker Paper
One Hot Glue Gun
One Yarn Needle
One Pair of Scissors
1/4 inch roll of Washi Tape

Step One-
Roll out your clay into a 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 oval and bake it in a toaster oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. When done let cool for 15 minutes.

Step Two-
Use the chart below to knit your YouTube Panel.
Cast on 20 sts.
Knit 5 Rows
Begin Pattern on Row 6
End Pattern on Row 11
Bind off on Row 16

Using your yarn needle, take your knit panel and sew it over and around your baked clay oval.

Step Three-
Download the YouTube Press Logo packet from the YT creators page and use the 64px YouTube button icon as your template. Print it out on your sticker paper. Cut out and place on front of glass to the far left. Use your Washi tape to align all the letters correctly (please watch video for visual).

Step Four-
Place your finished PLAY BUTTON on glass for proper middle alignment. Using your glue gun, glue YT button onto your card stock where you want it to appear behind glass. Remove back of shadow box and place dry card stock with button attachment into shadow box facing down. Close up shadow box and hang your finished creation.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

Happy 100 and here's to a community of creation and fun.
